Leslie Jeng

Bio

Leslie Jeng is the Director of Research at the Private Capital Research Institute and a Research Fellow at Harvard Business School. Her research focuses on the private capital industry and its economic impact, working closely with Professor Josh Lerner on topics related to entrepreneurship, venture capital, and private equity. With over a decade of experience in research leadership, she has spearheaded numerous projects, including the development of comprehensive databases on private capital, certificates of incorporation, and impact investing. Her recent work examines the distinctions between impact investors and traditional investors. Prior to her current role, she was a faculty member at Boston University’s School of Management and taught at the Kennedy School of Government. Her professional background includes roles as a quantitative investment researcher at Arrowstreet Capital and an investment banker in Goldman Sachs’s Financial Institutions Group. She holds dual bachelor’s degrees in finance and mathematics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a PhD in business economics from Harvard University/Harvard Business School.
